Safety Rules

  1. On the range, when pistols are not boxed, keep the action or cylinder open, magazines removed insert an empty chamber indicator (ECI) except when ready to fire.
  2. Treat every gun as if it were loaded until you have personally inspected it.
  3. When on the firing line, always keep the muzzle pointed downrange! Your finger should be out of the trigger guard until you are ready to fire the pistol.
  4. When displaying or handling a firearm always open the action or cylinder and keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. The magazine must be removed.
  5. If there is a malfunction, keep the muzzle pointed downrange while clearing the malfunction.
  6. Eye and ear protection must be worn on the range by all shooters and spectators when shooting is in progress.
  7. Obey instantly all commands given by the range officer.
  8. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the range at any time. Alcoholic beverages are permitted in the clubroom only at designated times or events per the Board of Directors.
  9. No one may go down range unless all firearms are unloaded, cylinders and actions open, magazines removed and an ECI is in the chamber.
  10. Exhaust fans must be used when anyone is shooting.
  11. Only paper targets can be used for shooting. No other targets or items can be used as targets such as ammo boxes, cans, etc.
  12. When pistols are on the shooting positions they must be pointed downrange.
  13. +P and +P+ ammo is not allowed on the range.
  14. Only .22 LR rifles will be allowed on the range.
  15. No shooter will handle a pistol on the range if someone is downrange.
  16. No shooting is to be done forward of the firing line bench.
  17. Pistols must be placed or removed in boxes/bag only at firing points.
